Study in Japan
Most Japanese institutions start their year in April, though some admit students in autumn. Almorad helps you match a university with the Certificate of Eligibility process and, where eligible, scholarship routes.
Degree Structure
A university bachelor's degree takes 4 years. Junior colleges award associate degrees in 2 or 3 years, colleges of technology take 5 or 5.5 years, a master's takes 2 years and a doctorate 5 years. Many institutions use semesters.
Student Visa
The school usually applies for the Certificate of Eligibility at a regional immigration bureau; after approval you apply for the visa at a Japanese embassy or consulate. The status of residence is Student, with a maximum stay of 4 years and 3 months.
MEXT Scholarship
The Japanese Government scholarship has seven categories, including undergraduate and research students. Undergraduate applicants must be under 25 with 12 years of school education; research students under 35. Tuition is exempted, airfare is provided, and monthly stipends run from ¥117,000 to ¥145,000 by category. Applications go through an embassy recommendation or a university recommendation.
