Study in Malaysia
Malaysia offers public universities, private universities and branch campuses of foreign universities, with degree levels from foundation to doctorate. Almorad helps you compare institutions and prepare an application that meets the immigration rules.
Why Study in Malaysia?
Education Malaysia, the Ministry of Higher Education's service company, describes a system with public universities, private universities, university colleges, polytechnics and community colleges. Its listings include branch campuses from Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and China, and describe their programmes as matching those at the home campus.
Admission Requirements
Applicants need academic certificates and transcripts and proof of English. Exact scores depend on the institution and level, so check each institution's own entry page.
Student Visa
Higher-education applicants use the Student Pass. EMGS screens the application and issues the Approval to Study letter, then the institution applies to Immigration. Immigration lists these conditions: the applicant is outside Malaysia when applying, the passport has at least 18 months of validity, and health insurance recognised in Malaysia with at least 12 months of cover is held. A medical examination is required within 7 days of arrival, and the Student Pass fee is RM60 (visa fees vary by nationality).
Work Rules
Student Pass holders may work part time up to 20 hours a week at approved locations only. Language and training centre students may not work.
Tuition & Living Costs
Fees and living costs differ by institution and city. Check the institution for current figures; Almorad confirms them with you before you apply.
