Sunway University
Sunway University is a private university in Bandar Sunway, Selangor, in Greater Kuala Lumpur. It became a university on 31 January 2011 according to its 2011 annual review. This page sets out what we verified on official sources and what we could not.

The university is listed in the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR) of the MQA, which shows 114 programmes from foundation to doctorate. QS reports 6,052 students, 2,180 of them international (36%), and 760 academic staff; these are QS figures, not from a university page. It belongs to Sunway Education Group under the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation and, per the group page, partners with Lancaster University and Le Cordon Bleu.

Admission requirements
Bachelor's
The International Office says to submit the international application form with documents at least eight weeks before the intake, with the offer letter issued within 3 working days after approval. Documents include the application and health declaration forms, two passport photos, two copies of the passport (valid at least 18 months from intake) and two copies of academic results. Programme-level entry requirements were not verified because programme pages could not be opened.

English language requirements
The International Office asks for an English qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL from applicants not educated in English, but the page we read states no scores. The Sunway International Bursaries page cites IELTS 5.0-6.0 depending on programme, for scholarship purposes. The university runs an Intensive English Programme (4 levels, 10 weeks and 200 hours per level) plus a 30-hour IELTS preparation course, with intakes in January, April, July and September.
Fees and cost of living
We did not verify tuition fees on an official page because programme pages could not be opened. Non-refundable fees in the international application guide: enrolment RM700, Student Pass via EMGS RM2,400 (RM3,400 for Indonesians), application/residence RM500 (year not stated on the page). Application deadlines
Submit at least eight weeks before the intake; late applications (within six weeks) may be deferred to the next intake, and wire transfers can take up to 14 working days. Exact programme intake dates were not verified, apart from the Intensive English intakes above.
Scholarships and financial aid
Sunway International Bursaries for 2026 intakes: RM6,000 or RM11,000 for bachelor's, RM3,000 for diploma and RM4,000-5,000 for pre-university, for students from 50+ countries meeting country-specific grade thresholds. Deadline: two weeks after the programme starts or after actual results are released. Confirm your country's eligibility on the official page.
International students
The university has an International Office (international.sunway.edu.my). The student visa goes through EMGS, with fees above. Visa processing time was not verified on an official page.
